Populism is the biggest threat to democracy of recent times.

I think you'll find it's globalism that is the biggest threat, why is it that the diverse and multi cultural countries are the ones attacked by the very people they embrace?
-
I've done 3 years studying politics and god knows how many essays writing about populism. It's dangerous. It's designed to create an "us vs them" atmosphere and divide people. It appeals to simple, nostalgic ideas and uses them to tap into people's fears (see Cambridge Analytica)
-
Globalism is working so well? attacks over the continent. Migrants drowning by their thousands in the Med, the middle east destabilized, North Africa a staging post for thousands of male chancers that are allowed to the EU without hindrance. Brilliant.
-
I'm an alter-globalist. The current American-centric form of globalisation isn't working, but there are better ways to create an international community.
-
US centric? DT is the most insular President for decades. I and many others don't want a global community. You live in cloud cuckoo land if you believe the whole world can get along. Absolute fantasy. As for Alter-Globalist? Wow, just wow.
-
Globalisation for the purposes of boosting the developed world's economy has always been an American thing. Globalisation didn't start with Trump. Protectionism and isolationism are the byproducts of populist nostalgia and hysteria.
-
No no no, you can't pick and chose what sort of "globalisation" suits your own agenda. Nostalgia and hysteria? Have you ever thought people are sick of feeling transients get a better deal than they do?

I'd love to support UKIP as the only party with a clear, unequivocal pro-brexit stance. Unfortunately as a man married to an immigrant with a mixed race daughter I can never, and will never support a party so infested with out and out racists. Clear them out and I'll reconsider.

It always was a radical populist Party. It’s now bidding to become a populist neo-fascist Party. A sort of alt right pound shop organisation flanked by a motley collection of burnt out football supporters chanting whatever anyone tells them to. No Pasaran.

The thing is, at this point UKIP by many will be considered as nothing but right-wing, racist and entirely fuelled by hatred and intolerance.

2 what I read from their internal manifesto that's exactly what they R. there R abt 2 thing I like the rest us just alarming.
-
That sounds about right to me. Unless your politics are firmly to the far-right, I’d be very surprised that anyone could agree with anything UKIP says. I’m also very surprised UKIP has any form of manifesto.
-
it's a chilling idea who they think is the ppl that R the backbone of the UK. I remember there 2015 manifesto & was just similar.
-
It’s a chilling idea to think that anything regarding UKIP and their followers is somehow an accurate reflection of reality and an ideal way of being.
