Tattoos are personal to those who choose to have the art on THEIR skin, shouldn't be told when/where to display them, they're apart of them.

Well, I think they should show them so that body ink becomes associated with successful people at the top of their game. That is how we challenge stereotypes, people!

In my town (Miyazaki) here in Japan many young people have tattoos and the only place you will have trouble is at some public bathhouses, a few gyms and if you want to become a civil servant here! Other than that don't worry and come and enjoy the rugby world cup

Respect people's cultures.
-
Why?
-
I like what the NZ team are doing here, respecting the culture of where they are visiting even if it covers up some of their own culture. They are putting other people’s sensitivity first, which is respectful behaviour and good practice in this case and just in general.
-
This is also good practice even if you don’t agree with somebody else’s culture if you are the outsider / visitor / guest - be respectful always. Too many people just focus on ‘how this is impacting on ME, and how does it make ME feel?’ ME ME ME
-
Again, excellent point. The mature take. By the way, the same people upset about this are the same people who vehemently oppose immigration from certain parts because these people will "tarnish" their culture.
-
You left out Trump & Brexit from your puerile straw-manning. Tattoos = Racist? That's a leap of imagination!
-
My point is simple. You do not want to respect their culture but I'm sure you will be concerned about your culture if thousands of Africans start making Dublin their home.
-
Thousands have. That's a separate issue. The edict to cover up tattoos didn't come from Japanese sources. I deeply respect Japan & know a bit about their long, complex & admirable culture. This order isn't from them. They're great hosts. That's my sole point.
