This is an appalling headline it ought to be rewritten. As for the commentators blaming the men who died & saying they “knew the risks” or “weren’t up to it”, you are imbeciles. The *MoD* was plainly at fault, Coroner made that clear. The MoD wrongly benefits from Crown immunity.

“The judge has set out in great detail how the defendants did their best to provide a safe test system & even how they tried to stop the marches continuing on to the second day yet were overruled." The MoD should have faced serious consequences but instead prosecuted its own men.

The journalist responsible for this "death march" headline ought to read some history. Death march refers to concentration camp inmates being moved west as Soviet forces advanced and some Japanese POWs in forced marches where many died.

'Death march'? Might BBC News editors want to reconsider that unfortunate phrase?

What rubbish and you have no idea what it takes to be a member of that Regiment. They all knew the risks. The BBC news as well is pathetic in its coverage. Next time there is a terrorist problem requiring the SAS and it’s Summer maybe they will give it a miss in case someone dies

I should think so too. May the lads who died rest in peace but nobody was to blame. They simply weren't up to the task. Hundreds even thousands have done it before and survived.

The guys threw their water away. Others didn’t and survived. Mistakes made but nothing new here. Many have not beaten the clock.
