Maternity rights/leave etc. are fine but why should she expect career progression etc. and being "in the loop" when she's not there?

I work flex hrs that knit into my wifes hours and can do 2 days at home should I choose to, if anything it has made me more productive as I appreciate the benefits it gives me, less commuting, do school runs, no need for childcare, employers should harness it as best they can.

No matter what your level in your company.

Where are the dads in this dilemma? Why is it usually the mums who suffer work discrimination after a child is born? It shouldn’t be ‘maternity’ leave just because women bear the child both parents planned to have. Step up fathers/partners.

Probably working 24/7 due to the sexist and measly allocation that fathers get for paternity leave...

Not an appropriate headline for the nature of the story. Appalling.

Almost like being a mother is a woman's highest calling and this degenerate system that has them scrambling up the career ladder wastes their most fertile years and leaves them depressed and anxious.

In case anyone is wondering, the quote "prayed my baby wouldn't wake up" is nowhere near as chilling as it sounds here. Essentially, she just wanted extended quiet time to do some work

The other side of this is the full time workers who have to go to more meetings, stay later and do more overtime because part timers 'arent available'

Working people who are part time or flexi-time is a nightmare. Not available, holding up meetings until the day they are in, unable to make joint decisions two or three says a week, Its the rest of us who need a pay rise for putting up with it.

Employer willingness to allow flexible working hours increased as smart phones became more available. The myth of cool new media/IT companies belies the fact that people are expected to allow work to permeate their personal lives constantly. Clocking off had huge advantages

How about she stops worrying about what shes being left out of at work (which is probably nothing) and get joy from her friends, family and daughter (you know the important things in life).
-
She's has been given flexitime so she can both work and raise her child and she is complaining about it because work isn't as fun as it was. she should grow up.
