Spot on. Drive in the left most lane unless overtaking.

By ‘appropriate space’ I assume you mean the gap that allows you/me to break if the car in front does. Yep very irritating and dangerous.

It would be much easier to address middle lane drivers. You never see matrix signs reminding people if the inside lane is clear, use it. Instead it’s useless shite.

Shocking how many people do 60mph in the middle lane and think they are the model driver because they are below the speed limit, its highly dangerous.

I try not to do this but when you get some old fart doing 35 in a 60 - you just have to! It’s human nature. Maybe we need to address the slow drivers and the middle lane hoggers and we won’t need to make up time?

We could be using parking sensor technology to log persistent tailgaters with a picture of their reg. Auto upload the data to DVLA who can auto order the worst drivers to resit tests and get their eyes tested while they are at it. No needs for points or Police!

Would be good if the launched a campaign to get people in the fast lane to move out of the way if there is no one in front of them.

I was driving in Belgium a few weeks ago, their driving skills on dual carriageways was excellent. Overtake a slower vehicle, straight back into lane 1. No middle lane hogging, until near Zeebrugge when all the clueless British drivers came off the ferry.

If drivers use the lanes correctly, this problem will help to stop it .

I leave a gap between me and car in front someone always pulls into it leaving me to drop back further. These people are a menace

Only time I ever really experience tailgating is when on a motorway with variable speed limits. Lorries don't seem to care about 50mph cameras and if you slow down for them they will be right up your ass. Highways England are the actual cause of this
