Why are Brits so drippingly sentimental about dogs? Is it to ease the conscience about the abject misery we inflict on just about every other kind of animal life?

I'm proud of the dripping sentimentality I've got for my dog. I have no need to ease my conscience either, because like most other dog lovers, I respect all life .. except for people who hurt animals. I don't carry guilt for the wrongdoings of others.

Perfectly said Steve and totally agreed. Dogs are far far more loyal than humans too

I love the outrage, if only people had the same compassion for the billions of other farm animals we butcher and kill unnecessarily. If you're reading this and you don't understand - YOU LOVE PETS, NOT ANIMALS. Go figure.

Why do so many meat eaters get queasy about eating dog yet think nothing of allowing the murder of pigs, cows, ducks etc? They're all sentient beings capable of love and fear.

What makes dogs any different to cows, chickens, pigs etc...they are all a life too? Surely you can't just ban one type of meat. It invalidates all other lives
-
They're domesticated animals, not food.

You genuinely will not get through to people like that. Best to just laugh at them.

For one minute I thought they’d banned humans eating tins of Pal & Chappie! That would be awful...they’re delicious! And as for Bonio biscuits...yum

... Beat me to it -
Sorry
! In all honesty, the triangular bonios are actually quite tasty! Bit gritty, but passable!!
