Tidal energy, in theory a good idea, however, it went from a £30m project in 2003 to a full blown £850m in 2014, to £1.3b in 2016, with sky high power cost. Sounds like someone's trying to milk the gov big time ..!

U have something someone wants, there's one price, u have something someone absolutely needs or else dies of arrogance and shame, then there's another, inflated price for that ..

If it was such a financial certainty, private investors would invest.

You won’t find many private companies investing in development technology that government has the final say on i.e. building a great lagoon off the coast, this sort of project needs government backing..

My understanding was that the lack of backing was due to the financial make-up of the scheme with the guaranteed buy back and not the technology. Govt shoulders the risk and pays dearly for the privilege... while the company free to trot off and market the scheme elsewhere.

How do you think the government decides what projects to undertake? Oh yeah, it's from reports generated by research.

A 14 year old with a calculator could easily work out that this project does not represent value for money.
