Taoiseach, not pm. Young and gay is irrelevant, he is not forward thinking, and was elected by fellow politicians, not the public.

Concerned about his reaction to the story of a young pregnant girl who was denied an abortion and then sectioned.
-
His reaction to the abortion debate in general screams "not touching this with a barge pole". Says it's "not a political issue"
-
Yes, very disturbing

Because it took SO LONG just to be accepted.

In fairness Leo did not bring it up, it's the media.

Very few here in Ireland care that he's gay or the son of an immigrant. It's what he'll deliver that counts. Thoughts with London today

Why does everyone feel the need to tell their sexual preferences these days? No one cares accept the person in your bed!

-
He didn't. The bbc did.
#readingcomprehensionisyourfriend -
Actually the BBC wouldn't know if he hadn't made it public.
-
if he hadn't, people would "expose" him. there's no winning here.

The DUP won't like that, which is great!
-
True but he's an uber conservative. The most right winged Taoiseach ever. It's like a little from column A, a little from column B
-
Jesus, what you guys consider right-wing would be too left-wing for the left here.
-
Political spectrum is skewed in Ireland due to 800 years of oppression & marginalisation. Irish hard right is kinda centrist
-
True story though, Varadkar would most likely be a Democrat if he was American. No one cares that he's gay. Hes too backward thinking for us
-
Is he right-wing economically & socially? I saw people posting about his abortion policy.(Is it still illegal in Ireland?)
-
Yes proper RW. Hes an elitist who hates poor people. 8th amendment doesnt allow abortion in the Republic. There's been campaign to repeal it
-
But Varadkar doesn't believe in a woman's right to choose so now we're not sure if he'll allow a referendum
