Translation: Supreme Court decides if a child lives or dies.

...and that's wrong....
-
Completely wrong. What gives them the right to deny him a fighting chance?
-
He's already dying. Of a disease with no accepted cure or treatment. American Drs willing to experiment purely because they can pay
-
It's not a matter of "experimenting". The amount of trials needed to get that far is extraordinary. He wouldn't risk his license for cash.
-
Phase I & II trials give clear signs of benefit over risk
-
Exactly this. Doctors face losing their license over minor complaints, why would he risk it for a bit of money?
-
What risk to his license? The baby is already dying. He makes 1m for a treatment he doesn't expect to do anything good or bad

Shame on our justice system, what justice is there for Charlie? His parents have shown him a world of love and GOSH have taken that away!
-
The Justice System protects us & this child from futile health care that is directly opposed to the patient's interests. I salute the SC
-
"This child" has a right to treatment which a doctor is willing to trial. Who are they to end his life when it hasn't even started yet?
-
Not when the ENTIRE medical establishment believes it is TORTURE to the child to continue any treatment
-
You claim it's torture but can you prove Charlie is suffering any pain or emotional abuse from his parents wishes? His parents know him best

Have I missed something? If my baby is ill, why can't I take him/her wherever I choose to get the best care?
-
It's about not making him endure further suffering. It's prolonging his life that's already painful. Putting body through more stress.
-
Which is a perfectly understandable view and potentially the decision you would make anyway but should be parents decision to make

Children are not the property of their parents with which to do as they please. The law protects them.
-
I would of hated to be the judge presiding over this case

-
Me too, it must be dreadful but they have to rule in the best interest of the child given the evidence presented.
-
Yep to have to use your head and not your heart, it must be so difficult on a case like this not to get emotionally involved
-
Undoubtedly. Who wouldn't want to do every possible thing to keep a child alive? Dreadful.
