It's not a cyber attack. It's malware being spread by people opening email attachments. Nothing more. It's bad, yes, but not an 'attack'.

Not done via email attachments, not this time.

What does that all mean in plain English? Are regular folks (like this dumdum) at risk of becoming vectors?

Turn off computers running MS Windows XP and earlier, run windows update and install critical patches.

2-contaminated links. Private business's have experienced an increase in false emails in the last 2 months.

3-The infection typically requests around £300 in Bitcoin for release of encrypted files and information post contamination.

4-Domestic households are also a target (and have been for some time) with multiple email address's aquired & spammed by automated software.

Point is, this is nothing new and world wide attacks have occured for years. It would appear that this is a new wave following the last
