So does this mean if he did have a cricket contract he would've escaped a sentence, couldn't make this shit up
-
-
-
That's exactly what happened, he had a suspended sentence because of this 'contract' he supposedly had
-
It's disgraceful they're giving a licence to hit women to pro cricketers we're moving backwards in time

Ridiculous this happened in the first place. Why should potential jobs determine a sentence....the crime should! UK justice at it's 'best'

Would we let Bill off for a murder he committed if he was about to start a fucking job at Tesco?
@cpsuk -
He was not let off - he got a Suspended Sentence now made immediate because he lied. Should however have had extra term for that too imho
-
Suspended sentence? As good as getting away with it if you ask me!

The judge should resign. Worst message 1st ruling: actually condoned domestic violence/abuse. Now 2nd ruling for false job claim?!

But the judge has only changed his mind because he was misled - not because a woman was beaten with a cricket bat! Ludicrous!
-
He also tried (?) to pour bleach down her throat. I hope he's also taken back to court for perjury.
-
it makes me so angry!

Is the court saying that you need to be an idiot to have a conviction against your assailant - they said cause she was smart = no problem
-
He was convicted and got a custodial sentence which was suspended to let him to keep job he lied about. Now serving it as an immediate term.
-
my point - in original case Judge Mansell said victim was not vulnerable as was "an intelligent woman" implying no need to jail 34yo! Bashir
-
No that wasn't what he said . Vulnerability has a technical meaning and applies to decision on sentencing range not decision to suspend.
-
thanks for clarification
-
No worries it's not always clear but this transcript of what Judge said today may help https://www.crimeline.info/case/r-v-mustafa-bashir …
-
Very interesting -thanks- and good he cleared (all?) misunderstandings.

Good news, but a prospective job shouldn't have been a factor in the first place! Sentence should reflect crime, not potential of criminal.
