@BBCBreaking @BBCNews This just adds insult to injury!! He should never have been flying an aircraft in his mental state.

@BBCBreaking@BBCNews Do not change policies based on an a single incident. Ppl will avoid care if fear job at risk. Reporting is bad idea. -
@clinkshrink@BBCBreaking@BBCNews so how does one learn from germanwings accident? Safer reporting culture for aviation = lower risk surely -
@DarraghMcCashin@BBCBreaking@BBCNews No, not safer--many false positives may deter treatment which decreases safety. -
@clinkshrink but safer reporting to a multidisciplinary culture should decrease false positives. Aviation risk assessment has high standards -
@DarraghMcCashin But no reason to think increased reporting will prevent single plain crash. Base event too rare to support this. -
@clinkshrink can address it though, likewise stigma re. pilot mental health. Cockpit door access remains the trickier point to deal with... -
@DarraghMcCashin Yes, I think the cockpit door issue may have been the real problem -
@clinkshrink indeed some airlines have adopted varying policies by way of (sometimes knee-jerk) response. What level of risk is acceptable?! - 2 more replies
