That's what's so surprising and brilliant about it. Going in Cleese had the reputation for being prickly and Palin for being a sweetheart. So the anger coming from Michael was shocking and therefore more real, whereas the same from Cleese could've been passed off as his schtick

Watched this and - although I never thought it possible - I love Michael Palin even more..

He really does seem to be an extraordinary, lovely, thoughtful man. Watching him talk about his friend, Terry, his old friend yesterday, fair broke my heart. I wish him comfort in his grief
