Very painful and epitome of the "Western menadacity" of religious freedom
-

-
Can we ask for religious freedom in muslim countries????
-
Only if we think religious freedom is an idea worth spreading.
-
Recent history’s “Muslim” countries were never known for having freedom of anything.. its European and North American countries that brag about it.. yet when it comes down to it they fail to show everyone equality in regards to their so called “freedom of religious beliefs”
-
For Islamic values stay in Islamic countries. If your eyes glitter by seeing what the West has to offer, go there to embrace their culture instead of making dents in it.
-
How are people making dents in it if the west themselves are embracing all the different cultures and religions.. it seems to me that everyone has an issue with Muslims specifically.. your pseudo name says it all. It’s obvious that there is a movement against Islam just admit it

I don't understand the concept of gaining citizenship in a country whose officials you have no respect for, and whose citizens you look down upon because you do not share a religious affiliation. Good for France.
-
How does her not shaking his hand show no respect for France and its officials? That's as dumb as the guy above grouping you with black gangs and crime.
-
I would feel disrespected if a person refused to shake my hand, wouldn't you? If you wouldn't that's your prerogative, but I would. That's how I inferred that she was being disrespectful. I reserve the right to my opinion, so please don't try to bully me, old man.
-
No i wouldn't because I respect other customs and values
-
But does she respect France's customs and values
-
I dunno you would have to ask her but nobody should give up their customs and values just to go live in another country
-
Then she should go back. She doesn't want it enough. Give the citizenship to someone who wants it.
-
When you go in someone home wanting to live do you respect their home and rules yes. When you go into a country you should respect their laws and rules, a country dont change to fit your wants no matter who you are. Their plenty muslim countrys what the problem of going there? Ya

Attaching any legal significance to a handshake is absolutely insane, regardless of circumstance. And demanding acquiescence to cultural norms pretty clearly violates the freedom of expression.
-
Demanding acquiescence to cultural norms is the basis of a functioning society, and "freedom of expression" doesn't work that way. Is beheading gays inviolable private "expression" too?
-
If demanding acquiescence to cultural norms is now on the table, should they start banning books? Dictating movies to appreciate? And handshakes and murder obviously belong in different categories.

If your moral framework allows you to deny people citizenship because they wouldn’t shake your hand - because they didn’t “do as the Romans do” - why wouldn’t it allow you to do the same for other cultural attributes?
