Running off to #Africa to adopt a "black baby" is a recent and unacceptable humiliation for Black Africa. In my opinion, if you're not related to the child or haven't lived in a child's country/region for at least three years, you shouldn't be allowed to adopt a "black baby".

You should read my tweet again. I'm opposed to unsuitable characters from the West flying in to Africa and effectively buying a child.

If these people could adopt in their own countries, you'd have a point. The truth is, however, either because they're suspect in some way or as is more likely to be the case that they're too old, they instead fly into Black Africa, leverage their economic power and "buy" a baby.

I'm making assumptions about you, but I hope that things have improved considerably for your people since your countries accession to the European Union. There were far too many outrageous abuses of infant children in orphanages by many of the governments of Eastern Europe.

I wonder how many of the people responding to this thread positively have adopted an orphan. Easy to complain about something, hypocritical if you don’t become part of the solution.

This is an example of blind nationalism getting in the way of the people. Obviously Ethiopia cannot care for the orphans and lower socio economic groups of society. But they're preventing foreigners from doing so because it'll make them look bad.
