"The world was full of good players." El Hadji Diouf on why Africa has only produced one Ballon d'Or winner since 1995 when George Weah of Liberia won it.pic.twitter.com/xa7WqE9jUe

You got to admit that the quality of good players have dropped since like 2008-2010/unlike it was in the late 90s and Pre 2008. Clubs today can't even find good strikers to buy. Look at how much spent on Lukaku and Morata, even Andy Carroll

Remember I made a general statement not limited to strikers. Even the current Barcelona side going unbeaten has nothing on the 2008/2009 Barcelona side. The current City side has nothing on the invincibles and 2006-2009 Man Utd side. Player for player.

I'm talking about comparing player for player and not as a team. Those others sides have way more quality than this city side. My point is that the world is slowly getting starved of fantastic players like before.

There are very good players now though, just that those two (Ronaldo and Messi) are exceptional. And if they were around and playing at there current level in 98/99 they would still have been the best in the world.

Whoever gave him CAF Player of the Year while @IAmOkocha was playing is probably now a ward of his local shrine and diety.

There are still good players in the world its just that Messi and Ronaldo have had unparalled consistency for almost 10yrs. Only Pele had such a rate from 1957 to 1970. Secondly, they have been in world's most successful clubs, Barca and http://R.madrid  most of the 9yrs.
