The Kenyan government has disputed the number of cows reportedly killed by police as they battled armed herders in Laikipia region. The spokesman, Eric Kiraithe, says 'only 70 not 300 cows' were killed http://bbc.in/2jc90Wa pic.twitter.com/WnuttI6NRn

Can we believe government on this one? Send your reporter there. Let him tell us what he finds out in the heartland of #Laikipia. Ps. Laikipia is a county, not region.

BBC, this is lazy journalism. What numbers are you, yourselves reporting? Waiting for any govt to give U accurate info is like waiting for a thief to arrest himself. Get out, do your job.

Even going by the downgraded number, why was any cow killed? If in the herdsmen were in the wrong, the KE Police should have apprehended them.

We know more than 400 heads of cattle were sprayed with bullets. When the spokesman mentions 70, why did those 70 be killed in the first place?

Even if it was ten cows shot why could a police officer shoot the cows, since you can't even ask or question them as to why they were gracing. But even if was an exchange of fire between the police and herders were they only able to kill cows not single herder interesting story
