Correct translation is, “A King’s son is a servant elsewhere/in another kingdom”. Muranda it’s servant not slave. Slave is mutapwa.

Shona yako yakamonyoroka. Muranda is a slave. Nhapwa is also a slave. The words are interchangeable depending on context and dialect

My dialect is Karanga from Gutu. We don’t refer to slave as muranda, it’s nhapwa. If you say to your Chief, ndiri muranda wenyu you don’t mean slave. You mean servant.

The 'slave' in the Shona context refers to a commoner or ordinary subject/citizen devoid of any status of nobility or royalty. So if Prince Harry comes to our domain, he's just another guy in the crowd😂. Inversely if I were to be in London, Im just as common as they come.
