Please do we not have pedophiles in the western world too? Why has western media stereotyped Africa with only negative news. Some young girls in high schools are winning trophies in science and literature in Nigeria, why do we not see such news with western media?

Don't mind them enemies of progress that's what western countries are made of, in western countries like Britain fathers have sex with their own flesh & blood daughter & make her pregnant & a baby is born so tell me which one is worst all BBC news about African is very negative
-
This is why Africa still bleeds. Thinking like yours. The first thing you should do is be outraged that this is happening on our soil. Secondly why the government hasn't stopped it, and finally why local media hasn't covered it. I would rather see negative news if it saves lives.

Rubbish, I have d right 2 express my opinion whether it is right or wrong everything we do in Africa was taught by d so called western countries govt from corruption, rigging election to genocides etc so pocket my opinion or get lost why
#BBC reporting what's in their backyard -
Bless u Tina. If u get to their place many of the things we complain about here, they hav it 2. Yet we don’t know cause nobody talks about them. Their media will never carry such news. They become power anytime Africa is mentioned. If only one person can hear me, I’m ok.

Their is no people called Becheve in South East Nigeria ( Igbó’s)...
-
Until you realise that to them, SE and SS are like identical twins that can't be easily told apart. Just like "East and west Germany," a president I know comes to mind.
-
But Benue is north central, not even SS
-
I think Becheve is in Calabar

The issue is not whether it's happening in the Igbo speaking part of Nigeria or not but to shed light on an unlawful practice. We should condemn it and demand our governments action in that area. No child anywhere in the world should be forced into a union.

BBC, are you sure of the location you are quoting here. Igbos are the indigenous people of Southeast Nigeria. This practice is not obtainable in our lands. Where are these your Becheve people?
-
I think they are in Cross River state

Thank you for sharing this story. The struggle for womens right is universal. What can be done to liberate these young women from oppressive cultures? From time immemorial – cultures tend to suppress/undermine women, be it in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East etc.

All of a sudden we're south-south and southeast
Nigerians never learn! Instead of us to use this information positively, we're arguing about geopolitical affiliations. -
Its so pathetic right. Unfortunately our greatest problem as a country is our inability to recognise our problem.

Becheve community is in Obanliku LGA of Cross River State. That’s the South-South of Nigeria, not the South-East. Fix up!

Nnewi is my home town and we don't have such thing here, BBC should be specific and not generalized, the voice from background is not language of south eastern Nigeria, 98% of south eastern Nigeria speaks IGBO.
