I wasn't aware of the scale of unemployment in South Africa. I wonder how (if it does at all) the unemployment rate varies between black South Africans and white South Africans?

Thanks for the document @MangiMolomo. It really is disturbing, isn't it. In the last quarter of 2017 the unemployment rate among black South Africans was 30%, whereas the unemployment rate among white South Africans was 6.7%. The South African government need to address this.

And worse, white south africans with no qualifications whatsoever are in leadership and management positions; leading blacks with postgrad qualifications. Sad situation

Yes. That man featured in the video had a degree in mining and environmental geology (I think). I wonder how many white employed South Africans were driving past him each day with less qualifications?

Meanwhile Sweden is severely lacking educated workers in mining/geology but has a tremendously restrictive labour market immigration policy.

That board can have better influence if the featured man can hold it up at the entrance of a mining company perhaps.

This guy is not even a SAn national, immigrated into SA to add to the unemployment figures. SA's porous borders are distorting all stats, millions of immigrants (most ilegal) just come chill here!

Youth Unemployment in SA is a big problem for both the government and private sector as both are corrupt needing different interventions to be implemented and monitored but I hope the #JobsSummit will improve conditions, especially for the youth SA, needs to be saved
