This is why we shld fight to educate and empower women. This Kenyan woman has a fixed mindset that she needs a "sponsor", a male, to help her succeed. She is choosing the support of a man over a woman, I don't kno if she has considered networking with another woman in her field..

She missed the networking class. If the more established women can mentor the less established ones who are struggling perhaps she can get a broader mindset on how to navigate her way through life.
-
I agree! I also think that this video should be used as an opportunity or maybe another alarm clock to get women, who are already in the position to help and mentor other women, to achieve their goals. There is little improvement in the fight for women's advancement...
-
Where are these women?

-
They are there. Everyone has the ability to mentor someone if they really want to open up for others to benefit from their experience.

This is a shameful depiction of Kenyan women tbh - I know so many that are hardworking and fighting to make a name for themselves. My parents fought their way out of poverty in Kenya, and nothing fell in their lap. I can understand the sympathy towards her, but it is misguided.
-
Also Beeb Africa - you need to balance this out by depicting those ppl in Kenya that are working their way up. Kenya is already taking a reputation hit due to corruption, and this stuff does not help. Raise the bar -cant believe I even spent time with you.
-
Shameful it is, but reality for many women, Kenya and elsewhere it is. No media story gives a complete picture, just a small part, mostly those that shock and awe. As Kenyans we should work and help create better opportunities for our youth, only then can the bad press reduce.
-
Agree it begins with education and I also understand that desperate times lead to bad choices. However this behaviour perpetuates violence against women, trafficking, and all other shady crimes against humanity.

Don't act like this is something new. Women have been living this way all over the world since the beginning of time.

I believe this is not entirely a poverty issue, neither is it peculiar to Africa / Kenya. Many women the world over believe they can only get to what they want in life (and easier) through a man/rich “sponsor”, sugar daddy, or whatever else they are called. Empowerment needed.

Thank you for the Feature . It was a eye opening experience to walk into the shoes of these ladies. Life has truly evolved. Our women need better opportunities and self value.pic.twitter.com/10dSNAp0rM

I won't judge her, she has given her reasons. Just realised how blessed I am to have my mama around to walk with me in the valleys.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

What really stands out is how vibrant, confident and intelligent the woman are. It’s unfortunate that these are the best options they can see.

selling Kenya short, most Kenyan ladies are hard working. You dont need a sponsor to have a better life, its a fallacy
-
Everybody has their story and a right to tell it. You have just said your let her also tell hers. No country has the same playing field for everyone. She is hard working but doesn't see any other opportunity to apply this.

It's a very touching story but how she's approaching her dream is wrong. There's a studio in Dandora that helps artist who don't have enough cash to grow their music careers. She can also go to Nairobi theater for auditioning and if she got the talent they will take her.
