Imagine living in a place where men and women speak (literally) different languages. Well, Ubang 🇳🇬 is that unique place. The community told us a bit about how - and why - they have separate languages. More from @briticoyemo here: https://bbc.in/2Py3uZB pic.twitter.com/5r3KTtL6CX

Unknown to many Nigerians, Cross river has almost 150 languages. The LGA I served has over 10 languages.

I live in Calabar, and when a former colleague told me that in his place, women speak a different language from men, I thought it was a hilarious lie. I still wonder how it started.

Let’s be frank and say this here once and for all , most Nigerians don’t even know that Nigeria is made of over 200 plus ethnic tribes with diverse languages . It’s catastrophic scenario not to impose one ☝️sure language on all so that it will be easy to develop Nigeria.

Well, I am not surprised people from other tribes in Nigeria are shoncked about this. This is what happens when we narrow everyone to the three 'major' tribes and not giving consideration to the so called 'minorities'.

A strong point for schools to take learning and teaching about our various culture and history seriously

Very unique culture; it could have resulted from men trying ro hide their coital expeditions and other mischievous acts. Nigerian men have a domineering disposition towards their spouses.
