A whole new and unnecessary debate stoked by a harmless, tongue in cheek comment from a comedian, blown out of proportion by a nationalist diplomat and further fueled by a privileged African puppet-diplomat who uses it to demonstrate his loyalty to French maters and benefactors.

I agree with Trevor Noah in this and not that politician. People's minds needed to be decolonized... Before nations came into being, what/who were they? 😞😞😞😞pic.twitter.com/ilYChXJfXJ

Is it really that bad to be linked to Africa? No one said they aren't French and proud..cause they are. Anyway it was a joke.. y'all just need to laugh (or not) and let it go..

Obama has no qualms referring to himself as Luo. He goes to visit his grandmother & family. That doesn’t take away from his Americanness. We - Kenyans - celebrate him for being Kenyan and he doesn’t complain. He actually loves it.

Trevor explained it in the best possible way one can " if they stole something nor commit a crime, they are referred as Africans but if they won a WC or save a child they are referred to as French citizen "

Not everything written by journalists is true, Travor was not saying they are not suppose to play for France. He said they must be recognized as the descents from Africa, like African-American. The problem begin when the African descents commit a crime, everything changes

I totally disagree with you sir because if these players didnt do well they would have been refered to as africans i accept the fact that they live in france have a french passport but you cant deny them of their origin # the world believes nothing good come from african

You only need to look at the reaction to the Bataclan shooters: they were quick to refer to their Algerian or Moroccan origin. Or at least no one objected.

Trevor Noah is a comedian. He isn’t a politician. Give him a break.
