@BBCAfrica, What is happening in Nigeria IS NOT farmers/herdsmen conflict. If it was, how come it's only the Christian farmers conducting weekly mass burials? What we have is a Jihadist govt carrying out ethnic cleansing BY PROXY. I challenge you to carry out a poll on this

Not really because the objective is not ranching but to take over other ethnic lands and islamize the country. The cows are just a medium to achieve that.

@BBCAfrica @BBC_HaveYourSay #BBC Should know that ranches cannot solve the problems, THE ONLY SOLUTION TO SOLVING THE PROBLEM IS TOTAL DESINTEGRATION OF NIGERIA. BIAFRANS (💯%Christians) cannot live in the same country with Hausa Fulani killers (💯% Islam)

Interested individuals or groups should be given access to loans for land acquisition geared towards establishment of ranches.

Gov acquisition of land from one Ethnic group to give to another for a privately owned business can never bring peace in a country like Nigeria with deep rooted trust issues .

Eg. a Nigerian South-easterner values land more than anything else(and also invests heavily in it), while an average Fulani values cattle 🐄 more than life itself.

How do you now think of taking land from a south easterner to give to a Fulani for his privately owned cattle business.

In what alternate Universe can that ever bring about peace?

I think it will go a long way to taming the carnivorous cankerworm who are the criminals pretending to be herders. FG needs to synergy with the state govts to legitimately acquire lands to do this n not by fiat.#solution.

NO IT WON’T,HOW CAN YOU CONFINE A NOMAD TO A RANCH????? The fullanis WILL NEVER abide by the rule. The only solution is better education and state of the art technology in keeping cows. Fullanis believe that all the land in Africa belongs to them.

If it was not a good idea, Jonathan wouldn't have approved =N=100b for it. Now, those who supported that idea, shared & pocketed the money and now, due to their hatred for Buhari, a Fulani extraction, condemning the move. Nigerian political elites are impossible! Shame!

Cattle rearing is a private business. The idea of moving cows around the streets is outdated. Ranching will improve their productivity.
