One of Africa's largest #FreeTrade Zone is inaugurated today in Djibouti. Like in many other countries in Africa, China has invested heavily on building its infrastructure. How will the national economy benefit from such large investments? Give us you views here.pic.twitter.com/nyrb8HxE5g

The incentive offered by DIFZ are fine but government needs to go beyond supply side policy to create a suitable environment for trade and tourism to flourish. This requires sectorial analysis and bold initiatives to promote new business activities.

This free zone was to built in Mombasa Kenya at Dogo Kundu. Now the strategic interests shifted to Djibouti because of Kenya jaundiced politics.

The DIFZ is a multifaced project. At this stage it will allow Djibouti to move from a logistics hub to a credible trade hub. Number of distribution companies are expected to open shop there further spuring regional economic integration as far as downstream is concerned.
