If you are in Uganda and seeing this post... It's likely you've had to pay a tax to access Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp. But how is taxing the use of social media and communication apps going to affect your social life? 📱💰📱💰 #OTTTax #SocialMediaTaxpic.twitter.com/EeFBwiTWjf

The tax is not that bad. But what pissed everyone off about these taxes is that MPs passed the bill so that they can get pay raise and big allowences. I would gladly pay for a VPN expensively than pay those that tax.

Someone is taxed to deposit money on mobile money such that he/she can pay #SocialMediaTax then buy airtime which already taxed such that they can load data bundles. Social media platforms should be social. Why deprive people their right to access the internet!!

Social media has become the life line of communication, friendships, businesses, marketing & movements. This tax stands in the way of progress. It is not just the people that will lose, but the government as well. Their first loss is the loss of sympathizers and supporters

One wonders why they had to tax usage of social media? Like it or not, that tax is a tax against internet use and therefore access to information. A truly sad state of affairs.
