The next generation will propel Africa. God bless her drive.
-
Wasn’t that said about the last generation?
-
You mean our generation? That we have leap frogged right into the digital age and using it for innovation? That a 10yr old today is getting BBC recognition for being a DJ. Our generation didnt do better than the last? What are you asking?
-
Some in our generation may have leaped, but most are frogging it out at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder, with no hope or opportunity of escaping endemic poverty. So no, our generation didn’t do better than the last.
-
We have worse schools, fewer opportunities and institutionalised inequality. This may not always be obvious to people from, or who have made it into the privileged class of the society, but at least 100m Nigerians live this reality everyday.
-
You aren’t wrong at all, and I hear you. There are bigger problems than what is being reported. Absolutely. But all you have done is point out problems and not see the potential hope this generation has if a 10yr can be successful being a disc jockey....
-
An opportunity a lot of folks from the last generation couldn’t boast of. We have worse schools yes, but this generation has proven success isn’t built on only education. I work in the creative industry, and in this age of data and content. The opportunities a more than the last.
-
Imagine our generation didn’t evolve from the professional restrictions of lawyer, doctor, engineer, banking that we were told was the formula to fight poverty?

This child would be doing herself and Africa more good if she was learning to "code". This is precisely why we're poor because when everyone is learning necessary skills we're shaking our booties.
-
This is called entertainment. The best thing anyone can do for themselves is to follow their drive and passion. Clearly thats what this 10 year old girl is doing. You'll be doing Africa some good if you promote people rather push them into fields they are never interested in.
-
Still missing the point! At your age I don't expect you to get it however Africa doesn't seem to be preparing for much. Entertainment . . . I'm a professional actor with numerous credits. And if you look at all the famous they graduated from college.
-
Please she's in school. We know how important coding is. But we cannot force someone who doesn't have an interest in it to do so. In Ghana, young people are being trained to acquire this skill. We cannot blame her for Africas problems please.
-
Still missing the point! I'll attribute that to your age and lack of experience.
-
She’s not missing the point, you are. Old folks want to force kids into something they’re not and they end up depressed in future. We’re not poor because we don’t want learn to code. We’re poor because our leaders are greedy and corrupt.
-
Exactly...she’s actually on point...’missing the point cos of age and lack of experience ‘...that’s very patronising sir....
-
Okay! A few years from now you'll be in Merkola or in the middle of the road trying to make a sale and I'll say I told you so. . .
