I think the @LPNational needs to become a cultural authority before it can become a political authority. This is why we need the party to speak out against the #lockdowns and normalize liberty.

Libertarians are so vocal about the lockdowns to the point where people think we are COVID denialists. Yet that same energy was not given by libertarians for the largest anti police movement in modern American history. Too many libertarians have ass backwards priorities as it is.

I’ve got no problem being vocal against lockdowns on the basis of working people needing to make a living but the lack of individual responsibility is astounding. I don’t see a society of people who are ready for freedom,if they are too selfish to wear masks without being forced.

Your argument seems to imply that there's a convincing scientific consensus on lockdowns and masks. There is not. We can stress personal responsibility without getting caught in an ideological trap. Personal responsibility extends to "at risk" people as well.

We’re all at risk, just to different degrees. And if too many people decide this isn’t their problem, the hospitals overflow and there isn’t room for people who have heart attacks, strokes, accidents, and anything else that requires medical care.

Problem is... a lot of us ARE COVID denialists. It’s remarkably difficult to take my own ideological brethren seriously when so many of us cast off inconvenient scientific principles (including basic epidemiology) when it doesn’t serve our ideals.

Oh I understand... had a NY libertarian tell me that my grandmother didn’t actually die from COVID because he thought it was some kind of hoax or government conspiracy. 🙄 I’m not even over here advocating for mandates, I’m saying we need personal responsibility not selfishness.

An anti-lockdown stance is selfish and stupid regardless.

This is one of the rare situations where coercion is clearly justified. We need to get the virus under control, or the healthcare system will collapse.

The problem is, people still had bills to pay. The poor couldn’t really afford to stay home. Local businesses can’t afford to shut down. Unless there was a complete economic freeze. In principle I disagree but IF a government does exist, it should serve to protect the people.
