So I'm a bit confused in God of War how when you exit a cave into a beautiful daylit scene, it starts bright but then adjusts downwards to be dark again

I confess I thought one of the points of HDR was to not have to simulate your eye adapting to brightness changes...that HDR had enough range to just let your *actual* eye adjust to brightness

I think that's one of the goals, sort of. At the least, the specs call for more range in brightness output by the hardware.

I think it has less to do with hdr and more with giving the ps4 a few extra seconds to load the textures.
