      Even if you manage to throw some of your dollars at NASA, they can't ask for donations and you will have no idea what they spend it on, by necessity and by law.

      There are many many good arguments for having a private space agency, simply because they can do things that a government body can't do. SpaceX has accelerated our progress, no matter what you think of it.
