Hey #gamedev people- I've noticed that here in Australia, in the last few years, there's a high use of the term "gaming" to refer to gamedev. eg, "Gaming Industry" = "Game Development Industry."
I think of "Gaming" as different: either poker machines or game players.
Thoughts?

Interesting. So it seems like calling pokies/gambling has been "gaming," in Vegas, at least 10 years. And 10 years ago, game development was indeed called "game development." It seems a more recent (2-ish years?) event to use "gaming" for game development.

Seems like so. Tried to figure out when "gaming" started to be used instead of "gambling"; they made a "Gaming Control Board" in 1955 but maybe used the words earlier: http://www.nevadaresorts.org/about/history/
