As my timeline is an utter mess, I request of you this: send me your favorite line of games dialogue or writing, in any series, from any game, in any language, fictional or real - maybe with a YouTube clip or a screenshot, and explain to me why that. Then maybe RT this <3
"I wonder what the people will see in the final days?" -the last line of dialogue in Phantasy Star 2, which never reveals if you win or lose at the end. It blew my 13-year-old mind that a game could leave the ending up to your imagination. It was like Inception for 1990.

The line itself is so bleak. It seems to carry the suggestion that Rolf and company know that even as the end of civilization is imminent, they won't be around to witness it. Which leads so traumatically into the title sequence for EotM.
