tiles get grouped into chunks that get sorted together (the colors). works most of the time except on the inner seams :/

I went through this hell once before. Ever since then, I opt for projecting textures to simple geometry in 3d and just let the graphics card sort it out (heh, puns)

FWIW I prefer the other options because if the possibility for verticality (like Death Mountain) but all depends on the game
