It can be hard to tell that you even need medication until you are on it for a while, then decide to stop, and compare. Absolutely I think zoloft allowed me to focus enough to sit down for five years, make Axiom Verge, and become successful. You can't do that kind of work when you have a constant emotional onslaught brought on by your own crazy mind. And believe me, I'd tried that for years.

There is also I think some fault in the language we use ... "anxiety" and "depression" don't really convey what it's like to open your eyes in the morning and already feel like something terrible happened, before you can even think. It isn't always just having a bad attitude.

's a common thing. People, for whatever reason, sometimes mistake a treatment for causing the symptoms. In psychiatric medication that's plausibly from going off of them.
