The Sunk Cost Fallacy. A great article and food for thought! Also I'd like to see an article on the opposite - features/projects that were cut that shouldn't have been. @gamasutrahttps://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/310063/The_sunk_cost_fallacy_Devs_describe_how_it_almost_destroyed_them.php …

How on earth would you get evidence that something should not have been cut? It would just be wishful thinking?

Yeah, or just a consensus, like reviews harped on the same lacking feature. Maybe promised features like in Peter Molyneux games? Or canceled games like End of Nations (it was awesome but cancelled during launch week for reasons the team was never let in on) or Starfox 2.

Replying to @AxiomVerge @nicholaslovell and
One thing that comes to mind is Mass Effect Andromeda - a lot of folks (not me) felt like it needed more polish, more planets, etc., which were originally planned but got cut for various reasons (switching to Frostbite?)

But then I guess that is also a "sunk cost" - they "had" to switch to the new company-wide mandated engine and it was hard to make it fit with their needs.
