Eventually, I would work with salary information. More often than not I would see overwhelmingly that the male folks I was leading were making on average $20,000 more than me per year.

This information, along with the bitterness about the pose structure caused me to move laterally in the organization into a new position. I was damned good in that role and was promoted. But never a manager.

The hazing folks experience in the tech industry is gross, but particularly the hazing women experience is particularly grueling and results in in the result - no one else gets through with ‘ease’ or dignity or unbiased merit.

I don’t know how to address this in the current system other than to have blunt conversations with everyone in the management structure. And if you aren’t valued, to leave the organization and work on things that make you feel empowered and happy.
