I think most people understand the carts are more expensive. The ones who don't aren't going to accept any justification anyway.
Okay what will help you believe that switch carts cost more to make? It might be under NDA but if not maybe I can find out

Problem comes when the digital version's price is inflated to match the physical, and is more expensive than digital on other platforms.

And if Nintendo just said "we're spreading the cost across all distributions," that'd be fine; as it stands it looks like straight gouging

I just hope the price for dev goes down in a year or two. It's rough seeing this backlash on devs due to price of manufacturing.
