      Can anyone think of unusual/obsolete/fictional display tech besides crt, lcd? Thinking of vector displays, lasers, other quirky things.

      vectrex comes to mind. also i have a soft spot for the deeply weird way the Apple // HIRES graphics mode worked

      it flickered the crt gun on and off in such a way it would excite, like, two phosphors at a time

      it lead to weird properties like there being a "phase" bit that set the color scheme by literally setting the gun phase,

          another odd thing about it was the same VRAM was used for the TEXT, LORES and HIRES modes, and switching modes—

          —did not clear this VRAM. Instead the screen contents were just reinterpreted. Software was supposed to do the clearing itself—
