One thing I'll never understand about disability services is the amount of effort put into making them hard to get, as if there is a problem with too many undeserving children selfishly asking for physical therapy, wheelchairs ramps, eyegaze devices, leg braces, etc.

To be able to proceed with my adult ADHD referral I have to fill in a huge paper form by hand and return it within two weeks. If I didn't have it, and didn't need the referral, that would be a breeze!

In some place they are harder to get to avoid people exploiting the system (talking more about adults), with the result that who is not lucky enough and needs them has to suffer also the process to get them. There should be more ex-post monitoring and less ex-ante prevention here

It’s ridiculous. Our 8 year old has a trach and g-tube, and we literally have to remind the supply companies every month to send us a new one. It’s so bad that any time he has a hospital stay, we ask the resp. therapist to hook us up with as much stuff as they can.
