Did you turn on the charge option in rest mode?
PS5 controller battery started to die after 3 hours playing today. Is 3 hours not long enough to charge in rest mode? That always seemed to be enough for PS4...

Do people not have phone charger handy at all times at this smart phone age? Gadget battery life is not an issue to me ever, since I have my smart phone with me at all times, I plug different USB C, micro USB and iPhone chargers at different spots in my house and my cars.

depends on your setup. I personally hate cables running around everywhere and am considering wireless chargers for my phone. Many people now own a Switch with 40h battery life pro controller and I can see how it's hard to go back. I remember being furious at DS4 after WUPC

Mine doesn’t seem to properly charge at all on the front ports. I saw a thread saying it’s the cable supplied with the PS5. I’m going to try my Switch Pro controller cable. People are saying it works.
