I know this is extremely illegal and anti-privacy but I wish there was a kind of medical Facebook that had all your records so you didn't have to repeatedly bring all your doctors/therapists up to speed on your history.

This is a huge problem across the board. The @vasaltlakecity has so many doctors coming and going no one ever knows anything about me, it's a fresh start every single time. Same with my dogs and their vets, they never have the full story and it's exhausting.

my wife has a very complex medical history and also got sick of this so she created a 5 page document with current medications, every time she was in the hospital, every treatment she tried and every med she has done and what happened.

You can try and tell the doctor or therapist to get in contact with one another not sure if that’s possible since therapists aren’t really in the same “realm” as doctors/psychiatrists

Isn't this at least partially addressed by HIPAA? Or perhaps just a regulatory framework for it.

This area is very very deep. Data sharing scenarios in health care is a huge topic. To give a taste, Microsoft just released its first cloud offering and you can see some of the scenarios here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/microsoft-cloud-for-healthcare-unlocking-the-power-of-health-data-for-better-care/ … Also look at FHIR https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Healthcare_Interoperability_Resources …. Hard problems.

Here in NZ you can just get one doctors office to send your medical record to another

There could be a record in a cloud that could only be acessed by your authorized doctor, so it wouldn't be accessible by anyone. It could also serve as Anonymous data so the medical community would have a lot more of info

I think there are several projects regarding this using smart contracts based on blockchain. You could have your centralized medical records and safely share with those you authorize, you could check it out!

It exists in Alberta (NetCare) and is very handy, especially when a person has to see multiple medical professionals. I’m sure there’s downsides but so far so good.
