Like usually it's a waste of time to try to out-literal a literalist, they're too used to weaseling the text, but I don't think there's a clobber verse for getting out of this one. Simply, there aren't enough verses. It's too early in the Bible.

I think Judaism might have a specific answer but that's not *literalist*, is it? Never heard a rabbi pull "Adam and Steve". I'm just thinking, if Genesis believers get to hypothesize a non-textual person named Awan, I should get to hypothesize a non-textual person named Steve

If we're supposed to mimic everything in Genesis to the exclusion of the rest of the Bible, we should be like, "It's the Garden of Eden, not the CIVILIZATION of Eden", and probably other stupid stuff like that
