Better but still dumb, #wavelab elements by @SteinbergMedia wants you to save as a new file to convert to stereo. But you can't save over the old file because "it is already in use."

In the latest update for #soundforge by @MAGIX_INT, if you open the channel converter (the thing you need to convert from mono to stereo or vice versa) you get an error saying "the number of Channels cannot be less than 1". It repeatedly pops up and all you can do is quit.

I only got Soundforge because it's the only sound editor I know with vst automation. Wavelab is way more stable, but it doesn't let you automate effects - they just apply globally to the whole thing, which sucks.
