Seems to be! Also I forgot how sheet music works because I got so used to looking at a piano roll grid. But I only had like 2 years of lessons so not much to forget.

Well there is a free online DAW at https://www.bandlab.com/ that has a little midi synth on the bottom of the screen and a record button at the top if you want to see if the general idea is for you without spending any money
