I'll be giving a talk about the more technical aspects of pixel art in the following weeks (online, of course). Any suggestions on topics that I should cover?

That's what I'm thinking of doing mostly. I see lots of people who have good artistic skills but have a lot of problems when putting the art in the game itself.
There is one other thing... when you have to reskin the same animations over and over with different characters/clothing. It's so damn tedious when they have lots of little details all over. If someone knew a way to make this easier that would be great.

Changing indexed colors is one way to recolorize sprites, if you're talking about changing the character design, that's tougher, maybe you can break down the character into multiple parts and layers and draw variations that are chosen to be rendered by code.
