re: last retweet I know there's a handful of extremely beloved metroidvanias that are like 20-30 hours long, so there are exceptions and it all depends on preference. I just tend to think the formula works best in the 10-20 hour range.

I feel like the Metroid Prime games were pushing it at 20 hours. First one was good enough to pull it off. Echoes and Corruption could've used some trimming. I can't imagine playing a 2D one that long tho. I get bored as I approach 10 hours.

As long as there is some kind of level progression and fun combat, it keeps me entertained

Take Echoes - the endgame suffers from making you backtrack all over the map to collect keys. Prime's version of it wasn't bad because you could mostly get them along the way, but Echoes forced you to do an extra pass over the map. It got really tedious.

Maybe if that fabled HD Collection comes to pass they can improve upon it and maybe streamline it like how they did for Wind Waker HD/Twilight Princess HD

I heard they improved Echoes for the Wii release, but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet

I feel like Prime was just about the right length. I never played Echoes, and I really liked Corruption, but I feel like maybe Prime is the better game. Been waiting for a Switch HD Trilogy to replay them still hoping that happens.

That would be awesome... also if they added motion control aim like in BOTW (or maybe the motion control fine tunes your aim or something since it's first person)

That would be excellent
