When I was young, I had a consistent internal monologue. For a long long time I haven't, but I feel like this is largely the result of trauma and years of dissociation, and I would very much like to get my internal monologue back.https://ryanandrewlangdon.wordpress.com/2020/01/28/today-i-learned-that-not-everyone-has-an-internal-monologue-and-it-has-ruined-my-day/ …

Fun fact: Occasionally getting high will conjure an internal monologue for a little while, so I know that in some sense the machinery in there is still capable of it, even if most of the time it doesn't quite work the way it's supposed to.

I definitely want to be clear that I'm not in any way implying that everyone who lacks an internal monologue does so for reasons of trauma or anything of the sort. It makes perfect sense to me that different people's minds just experience and process thought in different ways.

I seem to have one much of the time, but not for everything? Also: I can think much more clearly if typing my thoughts on the computer, as if it's a memory expansion or something, and sometimes have difficulty thinking through something until I cam write it down.

Gives me an idea for a new social media app where your only follower is a rubber duck. Only is it called "Quacker" or "Quackr"?
