I'm still a bit torn on it. On the one hand, if I know that I'll only be temporarily using software for a particular project, I like being able to save myself some cash by subscribing. On the other hand, if it's a program I'll be ALWAYS using, I'd prefer just to pay a sum.

I've paid way more for my Photoshop subscription than it would have cost to buy it outright in the old days. And I'm mostly just using it to print artwork. I wish I had an alternative.

I commiserate on the whole "software as a service" thing, but at the same time PS used to cost $500 for the odd instance I'd need to use it. So now I just sub and unsub when I need to use it.

Subscriptions can force upgrades on people which break parts of their workflow. No recourse from there but to pirate.

Nope. The innovation in creative cloud does not currently justify the price. It’s lock in.

Not when free alternatives are often entirely good enough for most use cases. Even major studios are turning down the 'Photoshop tax' and just use what works without that eternal fee.

I feel the same way man I hate this subscription shit...its fine as an alternative method of purchasing the software but the option to out right buy it should still be available
