3/ This is not a conclusion I am happy to draw. It’s depressing to realize that the field I’ve spent my career in is harming the world and making it worse. But we have to deal with reality. This level of interconnectedness inherently benefits the worst impulses in human nature.
Isn’t Axiom Verge playing with this same concept? It seems like we invent a technology, then we discover the social effects of it. Right now we are discovering some really terrifying effects that threaten democracy.
