After seeing an ancient Egyptian exhibit, I decided to download Assassin's Creed: Origins. I've never played an AC game before because the first game sounded boring and then the rest of them continued from that one.

So far it seems just like HZD and Tomb Raider and lots of other games. But I like exploring exotic ruins. Could really care less about assassinating people; killing's not a hook, it's the same dumb motivator for every game since Space War. So maybe I will just explore.

I think there is an explanation mode for the latest two AC that work sort of like an interactive museum exhibit. Never tried it, but the idea reminds me of an old National Geographic CD I used to play when I was a kiddo.

The hook of assassination peaked with the Hitman series. Actually eliminating targets is more investing when meeting that goal requires map knowledge and a strong understanding of routine; it becomes a freeform puzzle game at that point.
